BEST PROTEIN POWDER

Privacy Policy

Last updated 16 October 2026

This policy explains what information is collected when you visit Best Protein Powder at best-proteinpowder.com (the "site"), why it is collected, who else receives it, and the choices and rights you have. We have kept it in plain language. The short version: the site has no accounts, comments or sign-up forms, we do not sell your personal information, and most of what is collected comes from the analytics, advertising and affiliate services described below.

1. Who we are

Best Protein Powder publishes independent buying guides and explainers about protein powder and protein nutrition. For the purposes of data protection law, Best Protein Powder is the controller of the personal information described in this policy. You can reach us at editors@best-proteinpowder.com.

2. What we collect

Information collected automatically. When you load a page, your browser sends standard technical information: your IP address, browser and device type, operating system, language, the page you asked for, the page that referred you, and the date and time. Some of this is recorded by the services below, and cookies or similar technologies may be stored on your device (see Cookies).

  • Hosting logs. The site is hosted by Vercel, which keeps server logs (including IP address and request details) to deliver pages, prevent abuse and keep the service secure.
  • Google Analytics 4. We use Google Analytics to understand which guides are read and how visitors move around the site. It collects pages viewed, time on page, approximate location (city or country), device and browser details, referring site and interactions such as clicks. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. It uses first-party cookies (_ga, _ga_*).
  • Vercel Web Analytics. We also use Vercel's privacy-focused page-view counter. It does not use cookies; it identifies a visit using a hash of request data that resets every day, and it records the page, referrer, approximate country, device type, operating system and browser.
  • Advertising. Google AdSense serves ads on the site and collects information through cookies and similar technologies, as described in Third parties.
  • Affiliate links. Links to retailers such as Amazon contain a tag that identifies us as the referrer. When you click one, the retailer receives that tag along with the information your browser normally sends. We receive reports of clicks and qualifying purchases, but never your name, address, payment details or what else you bought.
  • Fonts. The site's typeface is loaded from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google's servers, which receive your IP address and browser details. Google states that it does not set cookies for Google Fonts.

Information you give us. If you email us, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you write. We use it to reply and, where relevant, to correct or improve a guide. We do not add you to a mailing list.

What we do not collect. We do not offer accounts, comments, newsletters or contact forms, and we do not knowingly collect sensitive information such as health, financial or government ID data.

3. Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored by your browser. The site itself does not need cookies to work. The cookies below are set by the analytics, advertising and affiliate services we use; names and durations are controlled by those providers and can change.

Cookie Set by Purpose Typical duration
_ga Google Analytics Distinguishes visitors so page views can be counted Up to 2 years
_ga_* Google Analytics Keeps the state of a visit (session) Up to 2 years
__gads, __gpi Google AdSense Ad delivery, frequency capping and measurement Up to 13 months
IDE, test_cookie and similar (on doubleclick.net) Google advertising Personalised advertising and ad measurement across sites Up to about 13 months
Amazon cookies (on amazon.com) Amazon Credit a purchase to us after you follow one of our links Set by Amazon on its own site

You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings. Blocking them will not stop the site working, but ads may be less relevant and we will have less information about which guides are useful.

4. Third parties

Google AdSense and advertising cookies. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet. You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info (US) or youronlinechoices.eu (Europe).

To learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services. Google's own privacy policy is at policies.google.com/privacy.

Amazon Associates. Best Protein Powder is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. Third parties, including Amazon and other advertisers, may provide content and advertisements, collect information directly from visitors, and place or recognise cookies on visitors' browsers. Amazon's handling of your information is governed by the Amazon Privacy Notice.

Service providers. Vercel (hosting and Web Analytics) and Google (Analytics, AdSense and Fonts) process information on our behalf or as independent controllers under their own terms. We do not share personal information with anyone else except where required by law, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or as part of a sale or transfer of the site, in which case this policy would continue to apply.

Links to other sites. Our guides link to retailers, manufacturers and other websites. Their privacy practices are their own, and we encourage you to read their policies.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, data protection law requires us to explain the legal basis for each use of your information:

  • Running and securing the site (hosting logs, Vercel Web Analytics): our legitimate interest in delivering a working, secure website and understanding its use without identifying you.
  • Analytics and advertising cookies (Google Analytics, Google AdSense): your consent, where the law requires it. You can withdraw consent at any time using the choices in section 9; withdrawing does not affect processing that took place before.
  • Replying to your emails: our legitimate interest in answering questions and correcting our guides, or taking steps at your request.
  • Legal obligations: where we must keep or disclose information to comply with the law.

6. How long we keep it

Google Analytics data is kept for the retention period set in our Google Analytics account, after which Google deletes it. Hosting logs and Vercel Web Analytics data are kept for the periods Vercel applies to its service. Emails are kept only as long as needed to deal with your message and keep a record of any correction we made; you can ask us to delete an email exchange at any time. Cookie lifetimes are listed in section 3.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to: access the personal information we hold about you; have it corrected or deleted; restrict or object to how we use it; receive a copy in a portable format; and withdraw consent where we rely on it. Because we do not run accounts, most of the information collected about visitors is held by Google and Vercel rather than by us, and is not linked to your name; we will help where we can and point you to the right provider where we cannot.

To make a request, email editors@best-proteinpowder.com. We will respond within the time the law requires (normally one month) and may need to ask for information to confirm the request is genuine. If you are in the EEA, UK or Switzerland you also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority — in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office.

8. US state privacy rights

Residents of California and several other US states have specific rights over their personal information, including the right to know what is collected, to delete it, to correct it, and to opt out of its "sale" or "sharing" for targeted advertising.

  • Categories collected in the last 12 months: identifiers (such as IP address and cookie IDs), internet or network activity (pages viewed, interactions with ads and links), approximate geolocation, and, if you email us, your email address and message.
  • Sources: your browser and device, and you directly when you email us.
  • Purposes: operating and securing the site, measuring readership, showing advertising, earning affiliate commissions, and replying to you.
  • Sale or sharing: we do not sell personal information for money. Allowing Google's advertising cookies to show ads based on your activity across sites may count as "sharing" for cross-context behavioural advertising under some state laws. You can opt out through Google Ads Settings, by blocking third-party cookies in your browser, or by emailing us.

We will not treat you differently for exercising any of these rights. You may use an authorised agent to make a request on your behalf.

9. Your choices

  • Turn off personalised ads in Google Ads Settings.
  • Stop Google Analytics collecting data about your visits with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
  • Block or delete cookies in your browser, use private browsing, or use a content blocker. The site works either way.
  • Browsers' "Do Not Track" signals have no agreed standard, and the site does not respond to them.

10. Children

The site is written for adults buying dietary supplements and is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA and UK). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

11. International transfers

Our service providers, Google and Vercel, are based in the United States and may process information there and in other countries. Where information about visitors from the EEA, UK or Switzerland is transferred, these providers rely on recognised safeguards such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and its UK and Swiss extensions, or standard contractual clauses.

12. Security

The site is served only over encrypted HTTPS connections, and we hold very little personal information ourselves. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect the information we handle.

13. Changes to this policy

We will update this page if our practices or the services we use change, and revise the "Last updated" date at the top. Significant changes will be noted on this page.

14. Contact

Questions or requests about privacy go to editors@best-proteinpowder.com. See also our Terms of Service.
